Hot Vulcanized Bond & Cold Bond

Viacore offers a vast array of solutions, ranging from hot vulcanized to cold bond applications. We can line components in the field, but also right in our shop, allowing us to be flexible and accommodate your schedule. Not sure what the difference is between cold bonding and hot vulcanized bonding?

Cold bonding is the process of gluing stick of rubber lagging directly to the pulley shell. This process is simpler, takes less time, and is less costly than hot vulcanization. This method is also sometimes preferred because it can be done without removing the pulley from the conveyor, making it a quick decision for emergency lagging repairs.

Hot vulcanized bonding is the process of continually applying a layer of rubber around the shell of the pulley. The rubber is melted and cured with high heat to eliminate any gaps, creating a seamless layer of rubber lagging.

While there are pros and cons to either type of bonding, we are proud to have the ability to offer both for different applications.

Pulley Lagging

Viacore is a highly trusted industry partner that ensures your conveyor operates correctly and safely for optimal conveyor uptime. We provide a complete range of services including:

  • Field inspection
  • Re-lagging
  • Complete disassembly
  • Inspection
  • Pulley optimization
  • Critical spare standardization services

Our Solution Specialists are well trained to inspect pulleys installed on conveyors for possible problems ranging from lagging wear and delamination to hub or bearing failure. Viacore’s team can re-lag pulleys in place, reducing expensive costs and downtime. They will also do a thorough run through your systems to measure and catalogue all your pulleys, based on critical dimensions and tensions. We do this on-site to reduce your inventory costs, since pulley standardization and optimization dramatically reduce the required critical spares you’ll need.Throughout Canada and the US, we offer comprehensive pulley refurbishment services consisting of disassembly, visual and non-destructive testing, re-lagging, and reassembly of the shaft and bearings.
